Multiplication
Multiplication is basically repeated addition in disguise. It is usually denoted by the \times symbol.
If we are asked to multiply 7 by 4, we can write this as 7 \times 4 which implies that we have 7 copies of 4. This can be expressed in repeated addition as
7 \times 4 = 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 28
Since multiplication is commutative, 7 \times 4 = 4 \times 7, that means we can restate it as 4 copies of 7.
This can also be written in repeated addition as
4 \times 7 = 7+ 7 + 7 + 7 = 28
